Ngmoco Releases First-Look Star Defense Trailer

April 6, 2009

Ngmoco has become a household name for iPhone and iPod touch gamers everywhere.  They have developed and published hits such as Rolando, Topple 2, and Word Fu.  Apple even invited them to present a couple of their brand new, yet to be released games at the iPhone OS 3.0 event.  So it comes as no surprise that their upcoming game Star Defense looks as good as any other tower defense game available at the App Store.

The tower defense genre has been one of the most popular among iPhone and iPod touch gamers.  It could be because the multi-touch controls really lend themselves well to the genre's overall gameplay.  To get gamers excited for its upcoming release, ngmoco put together this teaser trailer for Star Defense:

It is only a teaser trailer and it sure does tease, but from what we have seen you will not be disappointed.  The gameplay revolves around the basic tower defense concept where you must stop the aliens from reaching the mineral resources by deploying various towers around the map.  The aliens are funneled through paths that are carved into the planets, so you won't have to go chasing them around.

At launch, Star Defense will include 7 planets, 5 tower types, 10 types of aliens, and 3 levels of difficulty.  It will be available sometime this month, so keep watching for more details. Will any of you put down Fieldrunners, or any other tower defense favorite of yours for that matter, to try Star Defense?
