Overview

Finally an app for all those addicted to bacon out there...are there really that many people obsessed with bacon?  Apparently there is, and now here's an app made especially for you.  Choose from six different cooking surfaces as you cook, sizzle, and eat your very own virtual bacon strips.  Find bacon recipes around the world, the latest news, and products related to bacon in this fun little application that fulfills all of your bacon needs.

Features

This app is loaded with features.  First there's the obvious feature of cooking the bacon and the six different cooking surfaces to choose from.  That aside, there's tons of other stuff to do with this app.  There's an up-to-date news page about anything and everything relating to bacon (there's more than you'd think). As with the news page, there's also a products page and recipes page as well.  Each one has information on just about everything you would ever want to know about bacon.  Last is the GPS feature that uses your current location to find the nearest places that you can purchase bacon from.  All of these are really just cool little novelties, but still cool all the same.

Breakdown

The Good:

The amount of features and random information about bacon are easily the best elements of this application.  Basically, this is just a fun and silly little application to play around with.  I now know more about bacon than maybe I should, but at least I was entertained while doing it.  Most apps like this can't say the same thing. I really enjoyed the eating sounds when you double tap the bacon.  You hear a guy's voice going something this this: "Yum, yum, yum."  It makes me laugh every single time.  The sizzle of the bacon when it's cooking is also a nice touch.  The GPS is fun to play around with to see just how many options you have for your bacon needs.  There's also some cool recipes that will no doubt add in clogging those arteries as quickly as possible. newsrecipies

The Bad:

There's not a lot of "bad" here, really.  You can't flip the bacon, which is kind of a drag, but not the end of the world.  The bacon doesn't get darker as it cooks so the sizzle sounds are really just for the effect.  Other than that I guess the only down side to this is that if you're not a bacon fanatic, this application is pretty pointless.  However, you could make that argument with just about every Entertainment app out there at the moment so...

The Verdict

bacon1 Here's the deal, and the reason I gave this three out of five stars, this app isn't for everyone.  If it were free I'd easily give it a higher rating, but as it's not you have to ask yourself:  Do I really like bacon this much?  If the answer is yes, then you'll love this app.  It has so many great little options in it that it's more than worth the price of a buck.  However, if the answer is no then you'll probably think this app is a tad on the lame side and a waste of that same buck so again I ask you:  Do you love bacon?
