Apple Wants Developers To Help Test Push Notification

Apple has begun recruiting developers via email to help them test the brand new Push Notification feature that is part of iPhone OS 3.0. The email that was sent out to iPhone developers states that Apple is stress testing the service by employing the services of the Associated Press and iPhone OS 3.0 beta developers.
As a developer actively working with iPhone OS 3.0 beta, we would like your help in testing the Apple Push Notification service. We have selected a pre-release version of the Associated Press app for iPhone OS 3.0 to create a high-volume test environment for our servers.
To participate in the process, developers are given a unique code to download a pre-release version of the Associated Press app for iPhone OS 3.0.  Once the application has been downloaded, developers are asked to install the application on a development device running iPhone OS 3.0 beta 5, and they must accept notifications when prompted upon installation.  The application is U.S. English only at this time, so anyone outside of the U.S. region won't receive the alerts.  For test purposes, the Associated Press will be sending a high-volume of real news alerts.  Developers are asked to notify Apple if they haven't received a notification within 48 hours. It's nice to see Apple testing their service before it is unleashed on the general public, because nobody wants another MobileMe-like fiasco.
