iPhone OS 3.0 To Enhance Camera Photos?

Gizmodo is reporting that the latest iPhone OS 3.0 beta might actually be taking better and more clear pictures using the camera than it does on the latest publicly available iPhone OS 2.2.1. They've gotten hold of two side-by-side photos showing pictures taken with OS 3.0 and then pictures taken with OS 2.2.1 and I must say that the difference in quality is quite noticeable. The photo above is one of those that's being used as evidence for this revelation.
If this change does turn out to be a deliberate enhancement in OS 3.0, I think there's going to be quite a few happy iPhone owners out there who haven't shelled out the money for the latest device but can improve the quality of their photos simply by updating to OS 3.0, when it's released. We can add this new tidbit to the ever growing list of reasons that iPhone OS 3.0 is going to rock the smartphone world this summer when it's available for download in it's final release form.
