Leopard 10.5.7 Update Is More Jailbreak Friendly Than 10.5.6

May 14, 2009
update1 Following up on the recent release of Mac OS X 10.5.7, comes news from the iPhone Dev-Team's official Twitter account that the update actually does jailbreakers a favor. Apparently the update fixes a bug from 10.5.6 that wouldn't allow iPhone users to put their iPhones in DFU-mode, or "Recovery" mode as it's commonly referred to, without having to go through the fancy USB driver file copying - that was a bit annoying. If I had to guess, this was a legitimate bug in 10.5.6 that Apple overlooked, but fixed for the common good in 10.5.7 rather than fixing it for the jailbreaking community. Other than that semi-major improvement, the only other iPhone-related change is that 10.5.7 seems to have the ability to sync Notes with the iPhone and iPod Touch for those running iTunes v8.2 Pre-Release 2 and have iPhone OS 3.0 Beta 5 installed. It's important to point out that currently you can't sync Notes with MobileMe since there isn't even a section to view notes in MobileMe, but you can sync Notes with the Mail app. I would venture to say that Notes syncing via MobileMe, to and from the iPhone, will likely be rolled out once OS 3.0 is made final. Anyone find anything other than those two iPhone-related changes in the latest Leopard update? Let us know in the comments!
