New Game Based On History Channel's Expedition Africa Now Available
May 18, 2009
The History Channel will be airing a new eight-part television event on Sunday, May 31st that documents the travels of four modern-day explorers who will be making their way through Africa with only the basic necessities in an attempt to "recapture the spirit" of the 1871 journey by journalist Henry Morton Stanley to find Dr. Stanley Livingstone. It sounds like quite a ride, and you can be a part of it with a new game based on the series appropriately titled Expedition Africa - The Game.
Expedition Africa - The Game is a free advergame for the iPhone and iPod touch that allows you to go on your own African adventure. The game challenges you to see how long you can last on the same journey, balancing risks and rewards to achieve the ultimate goal. If you run out of porters or food, the journey will be over. Think of it as a free, less graphically appealing The Oregon Trail.
Advergames are a great way for companies to get the word out about their films or shows, and the best part is that sometimes these free advergames are actually worth trying out, so give it a try, you have nothing to lose.
Expedition Africa - The Game is available at the App Store for free.
