The ultimate casual gaming experience for the iPhone has finally arrived and its name is Peggle.  Peggle is one of those select few games that can be enjoyed by almost anyone, and once you get your first taste of the ball ricocheting mayhem, there is no going back.  The iPhone version of the game has been in development for quite some time because the developer, PopCap, has been tweaking the the game to best suit the iPhone's unique controls, and from the looks of things, they nailed it. peggle_screen Peggle's gameplay consists of shooting a ball from a launcher located at the top of the screen in an attempt to hit as many pegs on the way down as possible.  You are given a certain number of balls to clear all of the orange pegs from the board.  If you fail to do so, you must start over.  It sounds simple, but the variety of ways you can clear the boards keeps you coming back for more.  If you are a true Peggle master, you will be able to clear the entire board of not only the orange pegs, but of every peg on the screen. Peggle for the iPhone features 55 levels and 40 Grand Master challenges, so you can play a quick game, or put your skills to the test with the unique challenges.  Since Peggle requires extreme precision at times, PopCap has built in an appropriately named Extreme Precision wheel, which is located on the right-hand side of the screen.  When you need to line up that perfect shot, you can zoom in on an area and instead of using your clunky finger to aim your launcher, spin the Extreme Precision wheel and the launcher moves at a snails pace, allowing you to shoot into those tight spots.  Peggle also features a trophy room, and the ability to save and replay your best shots to show off to your friends.  It even has a duel mode to play against a friend on the same device. If you still don't believe that a game can be this much fun, try it out for yourself on your computer.  You can download trial games from PopCap's website for both Mac and PC, or try one of the free-to-play online versions.  They aren't as full featured, and the free-to-play versions require Internet Explorer and a plug-in, but at least you can get a taste of what to expect. Peggle is available at the App Store for $4.99.  That's a small price to pay for gaming bliss.
