Pocket God Update Allows Pygmies To Fight Back

May 20, 2009

Pocket God received the last of its trilogy of updates yesterday evening, which were intended to add a gaming element to the title and bring upon a price hike. The updates definitely delivered the gaming element, but the price hike never arrived. Bolt Creative has made it very clear that they want Pocket God to be more than an iPhone novelty application, and they have issued 17 updates so far to do just that. Bolt Creative announced that after their recent trilogy of updates, they would be raising the price from $.99 to $1.99 to counter the development costs. They have decided to hold off on the price hike because Pocket God is closing in on one million downloads and they want to achieve that milestone as quickly as possible. That's great news for those of you who haven't had the chance to experience this unique application quite yet. As for the update, your pygmies are now able to fight back thanks to the addition of a spear. Now when you drop the egg three times to bring out the momma T-Rex, you can ward her off by putting the spear into one of your pygmies' hands. The pygmy will throw the spear at the T-Rex, and you must place it back into the pygmies' hand until the T-Rex is defeated. The update also adds a new stats screen for you, their god. You can name yourself, select your god type, and see your achievements. According to the Pocket God blog, the god stats are currently not saving properly, so try to be patient, they should be fixed in the next update. Bolt Creative intends to keep supporting Pocket God just as they have in the past, the only difference is that the updates may not be as frequent as they have become more complex. Are any of you excited to see what Bolt Creative has in store for Pocket God, or has the novelty worn off?
