Overview
Finally, one of the best games to ever come out of the original Nintendo has come to the IPhone/IPod Touch. Yes, you heard me right! Mega Man II is available for download on your apple device. Although it has a few minor issues with it, the game does not disappoint as you take control of the blue bomber all over again.
Features
Basically everything that was in the original game is in this port from Capcom Interactive. Every level, every boss, and all of the classic sound effects and music you've come to know and love have been including in this game.
The only "new" addition to the game would be the virtual keyboard and the physics of the game have been streamlined to make the gameplay easier and more accessible than the original game.
Breakdown
The Good:
Did I mention you can play Mega Man II anywhere and at anytime? I think that's all I really need to say. The game is basically the same. If you were ever a fan of this game, then just about everything here is good....nuff said.
The Bad
The controls, well...aren't very good. As always, the virtual keyboard just doesn't feel right. The learning curve on the controls is terrible and it will take you quite a while before you get somewhat comfortable with the controls here. Be warned: You will probably fall down a lot of holes because of the controls here.
The gameplay has been altered and so has the gravity of the game. Mega Man floats longer in the air so jumping from one platform to another is a lot easier than on the original version. For the most part this game is really easy. Even on the hard difficultly setting.
The boss battles get the worst of the easy gameplay. It's way too easy to beat just about every boss. Almost to the point where you don't even have to try and you'd still beat whatever boss you're up against. I didn't really mind the levels being a little easier, but the boss battles really aren't very challenging.
The Verdict
Even though the controls aren't the best and the gameplay is easier than we all remember, you still get to play Mega Man II on the go and that right there is worth the price of admission alone in my opinion. If you're a fan of this game, you'll probably like this. However, if you'd rather have the difficult gameplay over the nostalgia...then $4.99 might not be worth it. Just ask yourself this one question before buying: What part of this game is more important to me?
