Overview

Finally one of the most addicting games ever has hit the app store! If you haven't heard of or played Peggle yet, what are you waiting for? Seriously...once you start playing this game it becomes extremely difficult to stop. So what exactly is Peggle you ask? Well, the goal of the game is to clear all of the orange pegs off the board by combining both luck and skill. It's a little like Plinko from the Price is Right and a little like pinball, except not...it's Peggle and it's silly, fun, and addicting as hell.

Features

versusThe amount of features included in this game are insane! There's a ton of stuff so bear with me as I attempt to list everything you'll get for only five bucks. First, let's start with the different game modes. There's a Challenge mode that requires you to perform different tasks and whatnot in order to complete said challenge. In total there are over 40 different challenges to choose from so you know that alone will keep you busy for quite a while. Next is the Duel mode and Quick Play. In Quick Play, you basically get to play any level that you've already unlocked any time you'd like. Pretty self explanatory. In Duel mode, play against friends and family or challenge the computer to see who can rack up the most extreme scores. The last, and main core of the game, is the Adventure mode. trophy-room In Adventure mode you play through a staggering 55 levels as you attempt to become a Peggle Master. Reach Extreme Fever in each level with the help of ten different Masters, each with a different special shot move that aids you in racking up the style points. As you advance through the levels your progress is tracked in the Trophy Room. You can also save and replay some of your more impressive shots to show off to your friends or whomever. They have also added a cool Extreme Precision wheel to the control scheme and the option to zoom in and out so you can perfectly line up your shots for the maximum amount of control. The game features tons of cool signature shots like Off the Wall, Double Long Shot, and Eye of the Pyramid. Lastly, you can play music through your IPod as you play the game as well. Whew! As I said, a ton of features.

Breakdown

The Good:

awesomeI have to say that this game is a near perfect port from the PC and console versions. Probably the first time I've ever said that actually. There really isn't anything wrong with this game, it's just perfect. The graphics and sounds are all there (and look and sound great by the way). The gameplay is incredible smooth and the controls work extremely well. The new Precision wheel is a great addition and really gives you the control you need to make those impossible shots. feverThere's plenty of features packed into the app so you definitely get your money's worth out of this one. I'll be honest, I really don't like spending more than a few dollars at the most for games because I usually play them for a bit and then that's it. Peggle is so much fun and so addicting that the replay value is extremely high. Just about everything in this game is good.

The Bad:

level-shot-lobsterNot much. The background music while you play the game is missing. For me that wasn't a big deal as you can play your own, but some people are having fits about it so I'm mentioning it here. It really isn't a deal breaker though and the finishing music is still there so big deal, right? The game does have a small amount of lag to it. It happens after you fire off a ball. It takes a second before it fires, but nothing major and doesn't happen all the time. The only other issue I found (and again, it's not a big deal at all really but had to find something) was in the graphics. When you zoom in things get a little pixelated. It's really a very minor issue, but it's there. Like I said earlier though, there really isn't much wrong here at all.

The Verdict

finish-starsThis is, without a doubt, my favorite new game on my IPhone. It has everything you'd look for in a casual game and the gameplay is top notch. It's absolutely worth the $4.99 and if you are a fan of this game from the PC title or console version, you won't be disappointed. There's a reason this was voted one of the "Top 5 most addicting games of all time!" If you haven't picked this up yet you don't know what you're missing.
