May 22, 2009
If real-time strategy games are your thing, we have some fantastic news for you. Vogster Entertainment has announced that they plan on bringing their hit Nintendo DS title, Robocalypse, to the iPhone this summer.
Robocalypse was one of those few portable real-time strategy games that was easy enough to control, but offered deep and innovative gameplay. The game was created by the comedic writing duo of Jay Lender (of Spongebob SquarePants fame) and Micah Wright, so you can understand why the game oozes character.
Robocalypse - Mobile Mayhem as it is being called for the iPhone, will feature the same zany characters and hilarious dialogue that the original contained along with a new touch-based control system that was created just for the iPhone. As with any real-time strategy game, you will be required to build up and command your armies to defeat the evil Demolisher. The game will feature 10 unit types, 20 varieties of weaponry, 17 campaign missions, 18 unique multiplayer maps, and a cast of powerful Hero robots.
The multiplayer portion of the game will feature 2 to 4 player online head-to-head gameplay, or you can play together in co-op mode over all 18 unique maps. Another interesting feature worth mentioning is the ability to instantly take the game from landscape mode to portrait mode to suit any players needs.
Robocalypse - Mobile Mayhem will be arriving for the iPhone and iPod touch sometime late this summer.
Even if you are not a fan of the genre, you still may want to keep an eye on this one as it is games like this that can change your opinion very quickly.
