Toki Tori Waddles His Way To The App Store
May 22, 2009
Two Tribes released the adorable Toki Tori on Nintendo's Gameboy Color back in 2001. The little guy never really had a fighting chance to succeed since the game was released on the tail end of the Gameboy Color's life cycle, but Toki Tori has since made an appearance on the Nintendo Wii and is now making his triumphant return on the iPhone and iPod touch thanks to Chillingo.
Toki Tori is a puzzle game that follows the journey of a young chick named Toki Tori. He is on a quest to rescue his younger siblings who remain unhatched.
Toki Tori uses a new control scheme that is very different from the on-screen d-pad that you have come to expect from such puzzle platformers. To move Toki Tori, you must touch the spot you want him to reach and if he is unable to reach that area, he simply won't move. This keeps the screen free and clear of your fingers so you can see the entire puzzle because Toki Tori is a very challenging puzzle game after all.
Toki Tori features some stunningly crisp and clear graphics along with an extremely smooth framerate. The game contains 4 unique worlds with 80 challenging levels to defeat. Toki Tori slowly introduces new weapons and tools that you must utilize accordingly to beat each level like a Telewarp and a Slug Sucker. If you make a wrong move or waste one of your tools in the wrong area, you will have to start all over, so plan accordingly.
If you are a fan of mind-bending puzzle games and adorable characters, you will utterly enjoy Toki Tori. We have a hands-on preview of an earlier build of the game available for those of you looking for more in-depth information, and we should have a full review of the final version of the game in no time.
Toki Tori is now available in the App Store for $4.99, so check it out and tell us what you think.
