TomTom Quietly Working On iPhone App?

We will inevitably be seeing a high-quality turn-by-turn GPS application hit the App Store, but it remains to be seen who will be the first one to bring such an application.  If a recent job listing is any indication, it looks like TomTom wants to be that company. Electronista is reporting via GPS Review, that a vague job listing may indicate that TomTom is increasing its efforts to produce a turn-by-turn GPS application for the iPhone.  The job listing was posted on May 7th, which is only yesterday, and it simply states that an Amsterdam based company is looking for a freelance iPhone developer to work on navigation software:

IPhone Mac OS Developer AMSTERDAM Contract Objective C and MAC OS. Amsterdam based technology company seeks an experienced MAC OS developer for project to develop iPhone applications relating to navigation software. You must be an experienced MAC OS Objective C freelancer available to work in the EU.

The ideal candidate would start sometime between May and June and work on developing the application initially for six months. The listing doesn't contain any reference as to which company is associated with the hiring, but logic would dictate that it is TomTom because they are the only major GPS company based in Amsterdam.  It is possible that a smaller GPS company had posted the listing, but Electronista downplays this theory due to the fact that TomTom initially showed interested in developing an iPhone application way back during the App Store's initial launch in July 2008. No matter which company it is, there is definitely money to be made with a turn-by-turn GPS application at the App Store, so it will be important to be the first.
