Zen Bound Update Coming Soon - New Screenshots And Details

May 5, 2009

zenbound

The gorgeous and calming Zen Bound launched at the App Store in February, garnering all kinds of positive reviews.  Since that time it has received only a single update that fixed quite a few bugs, but added nothing to the gameplay.  The game has since dropped out of the sights and minds of many iPhone gamers, but publisher Chillingo intends to change all of that by adding a brand new tree filled with all kinds of new objects to wrap up. zenbound_screen Zen Bound requires you to simply wrap a rope around a piece of carved wood, covering as much of the surface as possible before you run out of the rope.  It sounds simple, but the overall polish and control of the game is what sets it apart. The upcoming update will feature a whole new tree called The Tree of Nostalgia.  The tree will be subdivided into four groups: Childhood, Old days (1920s or so), '50s Sci-Fi, and Retro Gaming.  Along with these additions, the game will also receive a few necessary improvements:
  • Paint spread from rope will be smooth and continuous
  • Rope interpenetrating with objects reduced
  • Bug with "Previous" displaying the wrong value changed
  • Level beginning says "Play" instead of "Continue" if the save game had 0 percent coverage
  • Save game issues addressed
  • Ability to hide in-game progress display (i.e. play full-screen)
The update will be free of charge, so if you haven't purchased Zen Bound there is no harm in doing so before the update drops.  If you would like to learn more about the game to see if it is the right fit for you, we have a full review available from version 1.1.  Zen Bound is available at the App Store for $4.99. Located below are a couple more screenshots from the impending update.  Which group of new items do you think will be your favorite? zenbound_screen3zenbound_screen2
