Dexter For iPhone Shaping Up To Be A Killer Game

June 4, 2009

Dexter was first announced for the iPhone way, way back in October 2008 by Marc Ecko Entertainment. The game was finally shown off this year at GDC, and at that time it already looked extremely promising.  We hadn't seen or heard much about the title since then, but Dexter has finally decided to make another public appearance thanks to the giant gaming expo that is E3. dexter_screen2 Dexter, the show, is actually based on a novel by Jeff Lindsay titled Darkly Dreaming Dexter.  The very first season of the show is entirely based on this novel, and that is apparently what the game will be based on. Dexter for the iPhone will be sporting the voice of Michael C. Hall, the talented actor who plays Dexter in the show.  This should excite all of you Dexter fans out there because there is no doubt that the game just wouldn't be the same without Hall's voice. The idea of the game won't be just to go around mindlessly slaughtering people.  Just like in the show, you will be required to stalk your prey, set up evidence, get a confession, and eventually take down your victim.  Apparently to avoid getting rejected by Apple's approval process, the game doesn't actually contain much over-the-top violence. Dexter will be comprised of four separate episodes.  If you end up purchasing all four episodes of the game, the developers are promising somewhere around 20 total hours of gameplay, which is quite a lot for an iPhone game.  The good thing about episodic content is that if you don't enjoy the first episode, you won't have to fork out more money for future episodes.  Let's just hope that the initial cost of the game along with the additional content is reasonably priced. Dexter has no official release date or price yet so keep watching the site for more details. [via Destructoid] dexter_screen3dexter_screen1
