Harbor Master - It's Like Flight Control With Boats
June 18, 2009
If it ain't broke, don't fix it, but a few tweaks are just fine. It seems like that's the approach Imangi Studios took when developing Harbor Master. Harbor Master definitely feels like Firemint's extremely popular Flight Control, but there are just enough tweaks to the gameplay that allow it to stand on its own.
Harbor Master requires you to direct ships in and out of a busy harbor. You must dock your ships, unload their cargo, and guide them safely back out to sea so the next ship can dock. The idea is to unload as much cargo as you can without sinking a ship.
The game features three different types of ships, where the smaller ships are faster but carry less cargo, and the larger ships are slower but carry a lot more cargo. Harbor Master also features three unlockable maps, each with their own unique set of geographical and natural challenges, an original soundtrack, multi-touch support, smooth graphics, and online leader boards.
Even if you aren't a Flight Control addict, Harbor Master is definitely worth a look. The casual gameplay combined with the silky smooth graphics make it accessible to almost anyone, but it is also challenging enough for the most hardcore gamers out there.
Harbor Master is now available in the App Store for only $.99.
