Real Racing Has Finally Been Submitted To The App Store
June 1, 2009
Firemint's Real Racing has been one of the most talked about racing titles for the iPhone and iPod touch. The game has received tons of hype, and it was even able to nab an IGF Mobile technical achievement award earlier this year. Thankfully it looks like the wait is nearly over for all of you racing nuts out there, because Firemint has just announced that Real Racing has finally been submitted to the App Store for approval.
With Real Racing, there is a lot to be excited about. The game is said to feature 36 cars in 3 classes, 12 unique tracks, and 5 different game modes. Career mode will feature 57 events to compete in with 6 computer controlled opponents. You will be able to play against your friends via Wi-Fi multiplayer or online league play. Firemint is also utilizing their Cloudcell technology in Real Racing, which will allow you to upload and share replays of your races directly to YouTube.
Real Racing will feature an intuitive control system where you will be able to use touchscreen controls or the accelerometer. The game is also said to incorporate "accurate surface variations" that will affect your car's handling. You will be allowed to switch from first or third person perspectives, adjust handling and sensitivity, and choose manual or automatic transmissions to ensure that the car handles exactly how you want it to.
Firemint is really pushing the envelope with Real Racing, and we sure hope it lives up to all of the hype. Real Racing should be hitting the App Store very soon, barring a complete App Store approval process meltdown.
Embedded below is a gameplay video from a few months ago, but it at least gives you an idea of what to expect.
