Sega Of America President Simon Jeffrey Leaves For Ngmoco
June 16, 2009
Apparently iPhone gaming is even more popular than we thought. Sega of America president and COO Simon Jeffrey has decided to leave his post at Sega to helm ngmoco's new Plus+ Publishing group.
“We are excited to welcome Simon to ngmoco,” Neil Young, founder and CEO, ngmoco, said. “ngmoco is dedicated to bringing a connected community of gamers the very best native iPhone & iPod touch games. Today’s announcement of Simon, Plus+ Publishing and Plus+ Network continues and extends our commitment beyond creative collaboration by opening our innovative publishing infrastructure to others.”Plus+ Publishing is ngmoco's new publishing arm. It is intended to offer an infrastructure for developers to take advantage of ngmoco's publishing systems, while also allowing them to implement its new Plus+ Network. The Plus+ Network will be sort of like Xbox Live, where players will be allowed to maintain a persistent profile across multiple games with the ability to connect and compete with other players. ngmoco has stated more details will be released over the summer as new games launch with the service.
“We have a long-term vision for Plus+ Network to grow to become the definitive service for iPhone and iPod touch gamers to discover games and friends, play against each other and ultimately gain success, bragging rights and rewards in the community,” noted ngmoco founder and COO, Joe Keene. “We are thrilled to have Simon lead the efforts on bringing partner games into the network, and help build a robust community of players.”Having such a prominent figure in the gaming industry heading over to Apple's still young platform can only be viewed as great news. We will keep you posted as more information about Plus+ Publishing and the Plus+ Network rolls in.
