Sony Versus iPhone

I guess it was only inevitable that Sony would try and get into the same hand held market that the iPhone and Nintendo DSi are in. It's called the PSP GO and according to the latest rumors, it's apparently supporting an Apple like app store.
The rumors, found here at Destructoid, state that Sony has been advising developers to create smaller non-retail games and applications for the new PSP GO.
Some of the new features include a 100MB file size limit and prices ranging between 2-6 dollars on a tiered pricing structure. Sony may offer its customers free software as well. You know, like our free apps in the Apple app store maybe?
There's been no official announcement nor is it guaranteed that this new "store" will even be offered globally or just in the United States. Either way, it's clear this move is being made as a way to directly compete with the iPhone.
That makes total sense. I mean Nintendo has already started their own store, why not Sony? The new iPhone 3G S has the graphic capacity that directly competes with the currently modeled Sony PSP. It's no surprise that Sony is trying to tap into the same market as Apple.
Look at how fast the app store has grown in only a year. It's pretty impressive and everyone else in the gaming community has quickly begun to follow suit. I'm curious to see what Apple has planned for the app store once the new OS 3.0 is released tomorrow.
Competition between companies is always a good thing so it will be exciting to see the results of this new war involving hand held gaming devices. Which one do you think will win? Which would you like to see win?
