IM+ On Sale Until Next Update
July 9, 2009
IM+ is a full featured chat app for the iPhone that allows you to stay connected at all times with all major chat protocols via push notifications, and it is even able to push Twitter mentions and direct messages. Version 3.1 with push support was released on June 26th, and with that update came a price increase to $9.99. Version 3.1 apparently contained a few bugs, so Shape Services has placed IM+ back on sale until the next update.
IM+ supports all major chat protocols, including Facebook chat, Yahoo, MSN, AIM, ICQ, Google Talk, Jabber, MySPaceIM, and even Skype Chat. Actually, IM+ is currently the only app with Skype Chat push, but due to "technical reasons" the Skype push session duration is limited to only one hour. That's a far cray from the three days the other chat protocols are allowed to stay logged in for, but Shape Services is currently working on improving the duration.
Version 3.2 has already been submitted to Apple, so it could literally arrive any day now. If you are looking for a full-featured chat app for your iPhone or iPod touch, IM+ is a great choice.
At only $4.99, IM+ is easily a much better deal than the other full-featured push-enabled chat app, BeejiveIM, but only for a limited time. Once it returns to $9.99, the decision becomes more difficult once again.
