Notable iPhone 3.1 Changes Include "Save As Copy" For Videos

It has been a little over 12 hours since iPhone OS Beta 3.1 dropped and developers have been hard at work looking for the changes. Here's what has been found so far, according to The iPhone Blog , MacRumors and our own reporting: - You can now save your videos as a copy instead of saving over the original when you're trimming it, thus enabling non-destructive video editing - The SDK includes APIs giving apps access to edit videos - Voice Control works over Bluetooth - iPhone vibrates when moving icons - Updated AT&T profile to 4.2 - MMS enabled by default (people in the U.S. will still have to wait until AT&T is ready) - Location services disabled by default - A "Fraud Protection" toggle is available for Safari settings. - Startup and shutdown times for the iPhone as well as app launching times are improved. - Updated modem firmware to 5.08.01 (remember, don't upgrade to 3.1 if you need or plan on unlocking your phone) - Improvements to OpenGL and Quartz. The changes to videos appears to be the big news here as it means we'll start seeing more apps using the video functionality of the iPhone 3GS. Likewise, "save as copy" option fills a big hole in the iPhone's video recording functionality. If you know of anything else different, please let us know.
