Michael Jackson's memorial service takes place today at 10 a.m. PT (1 p.m. ET), and thousands of fans are already inside of the Staples Center to say goodbye. One iPhone developer has decided that this is the perfect time to release his very first app that allows you to memorialize deceased family members, friends, pets, and of course celebrities. But what really has people talking is the way the app is being promoted.
Engadget first discovered Pocket Cemetery in the App Store yesterday, which is an app that allows you to create tombstones for anyone and anything. The app features the ability to customize a tombstone with text and flowers, and you can send prayers to your deceased loved ones. You won't actually be sending anything since the app doesn't support any sort of online connectivity, so your tombstones are currently for your eyes only.
The developer has also created a video to promote the app just like anyone else would do, but he decided to specifically highlight the death of famed pop icon Michael Jackson to promote it. The video is located below.
It definitely seems like Pocket Cemetery is a blatant attempt to profit off of the death of a major celebrity due to the lack of overall polish and features, but what do you think?
