A Doodle Flight v2.0 Update Released, Now You Can Draw Your Own Plane
August 7, 2009
Hand-drawn games have this certain adorableness to them that makes people gravitate towards them. Just look at how successful Doodle Jump has been, the game A Doodle Flight seems to be inspired by. Sometimes, however, the hand-drawn models in these games aren't that appealing, or maybe they just don't fit your style. That's just fine with A Doodle Flight developer j2sighte, because they have updated the game with the ability to create your own plane model.
A Doodle Flight is a top-down arcade shooter with hand-drawn graphics and to top it off, the game takes place on a piece of paper. The idea of the game is pretty simple, shoot anything and everything in your path. Your plane is set to auto-fire, so all you have to do is control its movements via accelerometer or touch-based controls. The game was fairly polished with its initial release, but version 2.0 brings a bunch of new features that make this one a must-try.
A Doodle Flight 2.0 now features the ability to draw your own plane. This is actually pretty neat because it makes you feel like you are somehow contributing to the game, even if you have lackluster art skills (as you can see from my personalized plane above). The update also adds a bunch of other noteworthy features, such as varying difficulty levels, one extra weapon, a new shield item, online scoreboards, tilt control calibration, touch control optimization, and Facebook connectivity. All of this simply adds to the fun that already was A Doodle Flight.
A Doodle Flight is available in the App Store for $.99.
