iPhone Officially Headed To China, Apple And China Unicom Reach 3-Year Deal

It was well over a year in the making, but according to Engadget, Apple and China Unicom have finally, officially struck a 3-year exclusive deal to sell the iPhone in China.

On 28 August, the Company and Apple reached a three-year agreement for the Company to sell iPhone in China. The initial launch is expected to be in the fourth calendar quarter of 2009. This will provide users with brand new communication and information experience.

Engadget has also reported that China Unicom will offer two different "3G iPhones," but no specs or pricing have been revealed at this point, which leaves the door wide open for more rumors to surface.  China Unicom will be purchasing the iPhones wholesale from Apple, so there won't be any revenue sharing. The initial launch is expected to take place sometime in the four quarter of this year.
