Qik Updated, Loses Wi-Fi Only Restriction

August 22, 2009

Qik for the iPhone 3GS allows you to record and share video with your friends via a variety of services, but upon its  initial release, the official App Store version of the app lacked the ability to stream live video and upload videos over 3G, something its jailbreak counterpart is able to do.  That's not true anymore, at least not completely since Qik received a small update yesterday evening that removes the Wi-Fi video uploading restriction, which means you can now upload videos over 3G.  Now if only we could get the FCC to put a little more pressure on Apple and AT&T, maybe then we would be allowed to stream live video as well? Qik is an easy-to-use app that allows you to instantly capture and share your moments in a variety of ways.  You can record video on your iPhone 3GS and then upload via Wi-Fi to Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and Qik.com.  Videos that are uploaded to Qik.com are automatically archived and can be shared from there via email and SMS, added to a website, automatically posted to blogs, or posted to other social sites like MySpace and Digg. Qik is available in the App Store for free. [Thanks to Natesac for the tip!]
