Overview
The simple purpose of Adaptunes is to create a steady stream of your music that evolves with your surroundings. You are out jogging and as you increase your pace, your music increases in volume. You are driving and have a million things on your mind, and the last thing you thought of was to increase the volume to the level of your dreams - well guess what... it's already done.
Features
When starting the application it automatically connects to the GPS to discover your speed. If your cooky speedometer is costing you in unnecessary speeding tickets, than this is the app for you, and it is more than fairly accurate.
Personally the next step for me would be choosing your mode of transportation, or if you are feeling a bit on edge you can skip this step and jump to playlists. I would recommend looking through the menu and basically scratching through the different modes.
Play around with it, have some fun, get used to it, set it so it thinks you can jog at the speed of light and are very sensitive to vibrations (not actual options). Once your settings are appropriate to your life then you can go back to the original screen and change your mode through the top of the screen, just as you go through your application pages.
Side note: you can also change to other systems of count like Kilometers.
Next for the fun part. Its time for music Yay!!! So you go in playlists and select either an existing playlist or you create one on the spot, which looks something like this:
Okay congratulations you are an accomplished Adaptunes user. Now begin.
The Breakdown The good side You never noticed that your hand has a mind of its own. It travels to volume dial as soon as you speed in your car, or an attractive girl passes by making you up your count and speed with those five pound dumbbells that you were lifting. Obviously someone did and so they made this app. I personally would never have thought of this. It actually took me a few times to get use to the fact that my music could adjust itself. Now for the Terminatorists (people who believe in the concept of machines taking over humans) this is frightening, but its okay it cannot read your mind. For others for the price this might be just the thing you need. I have friends who spend hundreds on car speakers and computer speaker systems to get the sound just right. Why not add another accessory to your tool box. I must say I was personally very impressed by its accuracy on my speed. It's the simple pleasures in life. Yipee a program that knows my speed and is not my car. Umm...Yea it was a 35Mph zone but hey you have to live beyond the law sometimes. The evil side I personally don't have the need for this because I also found out I didn't have the need for those enticing 5.1 surround sound speakers. If you felt the need to get those you need this otherwise you don't. Also I am hoping the next version would use noise detection to increase the volume, perhaps when you walk into a busy room or drive into rush hour. The Verdict You spent that extra fifty bucks for the better pair of speakers, and maybe a lot more for that car system, why not pay a bit more and get something that adjusts its volume to your pace of driving, exercising, or even skiing. This is something that could become so second nature to you that you may only use this to play music on your iPhone. Or maybe you like to manually offset the volume on your stereo when you drive faster because you despise smart technology. I wont tell you exactly where I stand but I do sometimes dream of being strangled by my iPod. I have said too much.
