Rumored Apple Tablet To Resemble A Large iPhone?

August 13, 2009

Apple tablet computer rumors have been flying around all over the place lately, and it's difficult to filter through some of the more meaningless info, but today Gizmodo has revealed some interesting "insider" information regarding the often-rumored tablet that we just couldn't pass up. The insider source claims to have sat in on meetings for the tablet, and Gizmodo's Brian Lam states that he believes the source is legit.
You see, earlier in the day I'd given my phone number out to someone who sent me a cryptic email wanting to talk Apple. This must have been them. (Later on I verified to a high level of certainty that they were in the position to have access to the information and after talking to them for over an hour, I believe them to the same level of certainty.)
As for the device itself, it is rumored to sport a 10 inch screen, resemble a large iPhone complete with black resin back and home button (though the design may change at any time), come in two different versions (with/without webcam), may function as a  secondary display and touchscreen input device for existing Macs, and cost somewhere between $700-$900.  The source also speculated the tablet would probably ship this holiday season.  The one big question that remains is what type of OS the device would run. So, does this rumored tablet sound like something you would drop $700-$900 on? For the record, the image above is merely a rendering from Gizmodo of what the device may look like.
