Sid Meier's Turn-Based Strategy Series Comes To iPhone, Civilization Revolution Now Available
August 10, 2009
Sid Meier's Civilization series has been around for many years and has taken on many different forms, so it's no surprise that 2K Games decided it would be a fantastic idea to bring this highly-acclaimed series to the iPhone and iPod touch.
Civilization Revolution is the most recent title in the series. It was originally released in 2008 for the PS3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo DS. The game has received relatively positive reviews for all three platforms, stating that although it may be a bit more simple than Civilization IV, the gameplay is still enjoyable. So, why should we expect any less from an iPhone version?
Civilization Revolution is a turn-based strategy game that has you leading your civilization from its very beginnings in an attempt withstand the test of time. The game features 16 civilizations to choose from, touch-based controls designed specifically for the iPhone, multiple levels of difficulty to suit newcomers and seasoned veterans of the series, and much more. 2K Games also has tons more planned for this title, including localized versions in many other languages, achievements, Twitter integration, and more.
Early customer reviews have indicated that this is a solid port of a deep turn-based strategy game, but there have been reports of some odd performance issues on older devices. Because this, it wouldn't be a bad idea to try out the lite version first.
Civilization Revolution is now available in the App Store for the introductory price of $4.99. The introductory price is only valid for 48 hours and after that, the game will return to its regular price of $9.99.
