Week In Review - August 22nd Edition
August 22, 2009

Apple, AT&T, and Google are all part of a giant mess that has been in the making since the App Store's inception, a mess that has finally spilled over thanks to Apple's alleged rejection of the official Google Voice app. The FCC decided to step in to try and clean up this mess. They wanted answers immediately from all parties involved and they got them, sort of. Apple claimed the Google Voice app hasn't been rejected, it is still simply being looked at. AT&T claimed they have nothing to do with app rejections. Google claims all they want is to have their app run natively on the iPhone.
Facebook v3.0 is coming
The highly anticipated Facebook v3.0 for the iPhone and iPod touch was finally submitted for review, but that doesn't mean the wait is over. To hold you over until the day it is released, our very own Ian Hamilton did an in-depth preview of the app, highlighting all of the important features you have been patiently waiting for. This is the most excited I have seen people get over a single app, so hopefully nothing goes wrong with the approval process because I couldn't even imagine what would happen.
Dev-Team wags their finger
The iPhone Dev-Team, the dudes behind the much-loved iPhone jailbreak software, decided to wag their fingers at Pinch Media. They claimed that Pinch Media's analytics software is basically spyware, pulling and sending user data for unnecessary reasons. Pinch Media decided to respond to the criticism, stating that the data being used is merely to help app developers and since it gets agreggated, there should be no need for concern. Still, even if Pinch Media is doing the right thing with this data, how can we be sure everyone else is? Apparently it's all just a part of being connected to the Internet.
New and noteworthy apps
TomTom's iPhone app finally arrived in the App Store at the relatively high price of $99.99. The Wikimedia Foundation released their very own official iPhone app for Wikipedia, but sadly it lacks a lot of features. GPush, an app that is able to send Push Notifications for Gmail accounts, was finally placed back in the App Store, but apparently it still has some problems. Three great classics were remade and released: Bust-A-Move, Snood, and Luxor. Gameloft's highly anticipated Gangstar: West Coast Hustle finally hit the App Store, and apparently it is worthy of a purchase.
