Yelp Gets Thrifty - Now You Can Find Happy Hours, BOGOs, And Other Deals Near You
August 27, 2009
With the economy still sputtering, sometimes it can be difficult to justify a trip to your local bar or restaraunt for a little relaxation, but it doesn't have to be that way. Yelp for the iPhone and iPod touch recently received an update that allows you to find sales and specials at local businesses that should help you stay within your budget but also enjoy yourself, because you deserve it.
As with all social networking apps, Yelp heavily depends on its users to shape and form its service, and they have definitely done that. Yelp allows you to find local businesses, browse user reviews, rate reviews, get directions, and even speak with other Yelp users. The iPhone version of Yelp has always been a bit lackluster compared to the website, and it still is even with its most recent v3.0 update (still can't submit reviews!), but at least it is showing improvement with a handful of new features.
Yelp v3.0 now features a Sales & Special Offers Nearby search, moveable maps, Yelp Talk, ability to compliment a reviewer, rate reviews, spelling suggestions in search, built-in web browser, speed improvements, and UI improvements.
So what do you think, is it time to dust off that Yelp account to find some local sales and specials?
Yelp is available in the App Store for free.
