Apple Approves Vonage VoIP App, But You Won't Find It In The App Store

Vonage has just put out an extremely short and to the point press release stating that Apple has actually approved its iPhone app, although the app is not yet available in the App Store because Vonage "is currently conducting a beta test and general availability will be announced at a later date." Last week it was revealed that Vonage had submitted their iPhone app for approval only to have it held up by some technical issues with the code, which later turned out to be a simple icon labeling issue.  The app was resubmitted shortly after and, of course, now approved. The Vonage iPhone app will more than likely be Wi-Fi only, but you just never know.  Apple's agreement with AT&T states that Apple may not include functionality in any phone that "enables a customer to use AT&T’s cellular network service to originate or terminate a VoIP session without obtaining AT&T’s permission.”  AT&T has said, however, that they will take another look at the issue. Hey, at least Apple is back in the business of approving apps.  Apparently the Vonage app didn't contain any shiny chat bubbles.
