Apple Drops iPod Prices Ahead Of "Rock And Roll" Event (Updated)

September 9, 2009

And so it begins.  Apple has quietly dropped the prices of all of its screen-based iPods -- not the shuffle -- only hours before their big "Rock and Roll" event.  If this isn't enough proof that new iPod models will be shown off today, I don't know what is. iPod touch:
  • 8GB now $189, down from $229
  • 16GB now $249, down from $299
  • 32GB now $279, down from $399
iPod nano:
  • 8GB now $129, down from $149
  • 16GB now $149, down from $199
iPod classic:
  • 120GB now $229, down from $249
UPDATE: Apple's online store is currently down, so you will just have to take our word for it until it goes back up after the event is over. At the time of this writing, Apple's site doesn't fully reflect these prices.  Some of the pages still show the old prices, but the main product pages reflect the new prices.
