AT&T Continues To Beef Up 3G Coverage, Is Your Market On The List?

September 2, 2009

AT&T's 3G coverage has been under fire ever since the iPhone 3G was released, with most of the criticism coming from customers in large, high volume markets.  AT&T has been working hard on improving the coverage in these areas by utilizing the 850 MHz spectrum, albeit relatively slowly, but customers have seen general improvements after it has been deployed.  AT&T has just pushed out a couple of press releases stating that even more areas are getting the coverage boost. AT&T has announced that more than 50 Houston area communities, including Angleton, Baytown, Clear Lake, Conroe, Friendswood, Katy, and Sugar Land, should be seeing 3G coverage improvements.  Connecticut has also received improvements in a variety of areas, including Fairfield, New Haven, New London, Middlesex, Hartford, Tolland and Windham counties.  And don't forget, New York, San Francisco, and Atlanta have seen these same improvements over the last few weeks. The 850 MHz spectrum works alongside the current 1900 MHz spectrum to provide even great coverage in high volume markets.  With the added 850 MHz spectrum, customers should experience better connectivity, performance, and enhanced in-building wireless coverage. Have any of you in these markets experienced 3G performance improvements?
