Freeverse's New Augmented Reality Game Turns Your iPhone Into A Magical Creature-Detector
September 28, 2009
We have already seen some interesting augmented reality apps hit the App Store, but most if not all of them deal with discovering real world locations. Freeverse decided to take a more whimsical approach to augmented reality by creating a game that utilizes the technology to scan and detect magical creatures in the world all around you.
Ian Lynch Smith, president of Freeverse said, "The iPhone's ability to allow us to merge 3D game elements with real world, real time environments, opens up tremendous possibilities for new games and apps. We're really excited about this new technology and have just begun to scratch the surface of its potential."Fairy Trails uses your iPhone 3GS's camera and compass to combine the real world with a more magical one. The idea of the game is simple, just shake your device to activate your creature-detector and start tapping on all of the fairies, fireflies, and butterflies that appear. You can spin and maneuver your device to find even more creatures. The more fairies you capture, the more power you'll have to detect the faster ones.
Although the game does support all of Apple's mobile devices, you will definitely have a better experience with the game on an iPhone 3GS.
Fairy Trails is now available in the App Store for $1.99.
A video demonstration of the app can be seen on Freeverse's website.
