Overview

Kaplan SAT Flashcubes helps with SAT preparation. If you are in High School and are in need of improving your vocabulary, now you have the study tool to make you ace the Verbal section of the test. So turn on your iPhone and tap away.

Features

  • Flashcubes - There are hundreds of flashcubes that in the self-study mode show up as cubes with sentences, synonyms and img_0367finally the definition to help you learn the word.
  • Multiple Choice - Once you feel a bit comfortable about your prep, start quizzing yourself.
  • Custom List - If you went through everything and realized Kaplan isn't doing their job right then go ahead add your personal selections into the program.
  • Reports - Once you have studied for a while and taken a few quizzes you can now monitor your progress. You can go and find a report of your hits and misses, and even sort it by difficulty.

The Breakdown

The Good

Flashcubes gives you the ability to prep for probably the most important exam you will take in the first few years of your adult life. This is a good tool to help you study, and can possibly be the difference between that community college or the college of your dreams. If you are a parent just turn your iPhone on and hand it to your child on the ride home from school so you can monitor them while they study. The best thing is you don't have to go through cards with them, you just let the features do the work for you.

The Bad

Though the Flashcubes does what it says it should, Verbal is only one part of the exam and it would have been nice to see a mathematics section in this as well. Another more important issue is that the words are always in alphabetical order which can be annoying (because you cant skip through) and counterproductive in testing yourself. img_0368

The Ugly

The list is not extensive enough and the interface could use a bit of work to make it more professional.

The Verdict

Kaplan SAT Flashcubes is not a bad app to start off with, it has some interesting features, and if you can bear it being alphabetical then you should get it. The list is not extensive, but some of the other similar apps have the same issues. The test mode is an interesting feature that would be very helpful. The price is a little hight, but if the features work for you than it may be worth it. [gallery]
