Review: Zombie Bowling

September 3, 2009

Overview What's there to do after a bunch of undead zombies take over your town? Go bowling of course. In this twisted and original game, you must take out zombies with bowling balls. Be careful though because each zombie you miss will try and eat you. Which is why the devs have also added a side arm so you can gun down those spares. Does this game hit a strike or throw a gutter ball? Features The game comes with the normal bowl em' and shoot 'em game, but you can also play the game where you just kill hordes of zombies using the side arm without the bowling ball feature if you wish. The game has the options to change the color of the ball and the level you are playing in as well. There are six choices of bowling balls like The Pink Punisher or try using The Corpse Crusher instead. There are three levels in the game like Dawn at the Mall for example. Breakdown The Good: You know everything that is great about those cheesy B zombie horror films? Well, that's what's great about this game. From the names of the levels and bowling balls, to the sound effects and concept of the game. I mean killing zombies with a bowling ball...genius. The game is just silly fun and when you throw in zombies, what's not to love...right? The Bad: Now the sad part...the game has a lot of issues with it. I didn't want there to be either guys, really I didn't. However, the game just doesn't have a lot going for it. The biggest issue has to be the controls and the lag in the game. Loading times are terrible and you never really have a good grasp of how to throw the ball correctly. When you hit the zombies, they lag as they fall which is a bummer and they lag as you shoot them as well. The graphics are pretty bad as well. As you can see from the screen shots, they look like Playstation One graphics and we have all seen better on the iPhone. The Verdict This game has an amazing concept, but it just doesn't deliver the goods as you'd expect it to. Is it worth the $1.99? I'd say no on this one. It's worth taking a look, but ultimately I think you'll be disappointed on this one. [gallery link="file" columns="4"]
