Spotify's much-hyped digital music streaming service is now available for the iPhone and iPod touch, but only if you live in the UK, Sweden, Spain, France, Norway, or Finland. Spotify does, however, have plans to eventually make the service available in the US.
Unlike Rhapsody's streaming music app, which is still waiting for Apple's stamp of approval, Spotify's will allow you to download and store songs for offline playback for up to 30 days. Also, surprisingly, Spotify didn't attempt to -- or have to for that matter -- suck up to Apple by placing "Buy" links that go to the iTunes Music Store. This should be a good sign for those waiting on Rhapsody's app.
Other key features include:
Access to millions of tracks with Spotify’s constantly updated catalogue
Search and stream music instantly. Browse by artist, title, album, genre, label or year
Create and synchronise playlists. Updates from the desktop application will be synced instantly and vice versa
Listen to tracks and albums in their entirety. Rewind, fast-forward, pause, skip and shuffle
View cover art for all tracks and albums
If you live in any of the above mentioned countries and have a premium Spotify subscription, download the free app and give it a try so you can tell us US folks how well it works.
