The Robocalypse Is Upon Us! Vogster's Award-Winning RTS Game Comes To The iPhone
September 18, 2009
Vogster Entertainment's award-winning RTS game for the Nintendo DS has finally, emphasis on finally, made it into the App Store. The game was first announced way back in May, but Vogster has been working non-stop to ensure it turned out to be one of the most user friendly RTS games for the iPhone and iPod touch.
The RTS genre has to be one of my all-time favorites, but sadly the iPhone's unique control system just doesn't lend itself well to games of this nature because of all of the unit management. However, Vogster Entertainment's Robocalypse was originally released for the Nintendo DS, another touch-based gaming system, so the idea is that this one should control better than any other RTS before it.
Robocalypse - Mobile Mayhem features wacky characters and dialogue created by the comedic writing duo of Jay Lender (of Spongebob Squarepants fame) and Micah Wright. As with any real-time strategy game, you will be required to build up and command your armies to defeat the evil Demolisher. The game features 10 unit types, 20 varieties of weaponry, 17 campaign missions, 18 unique multiplayer maps, and a cast of powerful Hero robots.
The multiplayer portion of the game features 1 to 4 player online head-to-head gameplay, or you can play together in co-op mode over all 18 unique maps. It's nice to see a developer release a full-featured game instead of promising added features via updates.
If you are interested in learning more about Robocalypse's past, present, and future, we also have an in-depth interview with Alan Martin, the producer of Robocalypse - Mobile Mayhem available on our site.
Robocalypse - Mobile Mayhem is now available in the App Store for $4.99.
