Derek Jeter Real Baseball Slides Into The App Store

The much beloved and sometimes hated New York Yankee, Derek Jeter, has made his way on to the iPhone and iPod touch thanks to Gameloft.  The timing of this release couldn't be any better for Yankee fans, although I am still personally bitter that the Yankees highly paid all-star team annihilated my homely Twins, but I can let that go for the sake of this post. Derek Jeter Real Baseball adds to Gameloft's already impressive lineup of sports simulation games for the iPhone and iPod touch.  The only major sports they haven't developed an iPhone game for are basketball and hockey, but knowing Gameloft, they may already have those in the works. Derek Jeter Real Baseball features full 3D graphics including players and stadiums, a variety of "lifelike" animations, the ability to listen to your own music and post replays on YouTube, realistic audio commentary, multiple game modes including a full 162-game season with playoffs, and, of course, Derek Jeter. Early impressions of the game are somewhat mixed at this point.  The game lacks any official MLB branding, and the batting mechanic is entirely geared towards timing, so you won't actually be targeting the ball in any way like in Homerun Battle 3D.  Aside from that, however, players seem to enjoy the overall gameplay. Derek Jeter Real Baseball is now available in the App Store for $4.99.  If you are a huge baseball fan and are looking for a full simulation game, this one is definitely worth a look.
