iPhone 3GS 3.1 Jailbreak Now Available
October 2, 2009
The Dev-Team has just released the latest version of their PwnageTool for Mac OS X that adds support for the jailbreaking of iPhone OS 3.1 for both the iPhone 3GS and the iPod touch 2G. Looks like your patience has paid off.
The PwnageTool 3.1.3 is officially available on their site at the bottom of the most recent post, but you must absolutely heed all of their warnings before going ahead with the process. Here are only a few of the details:
The iPhone 3GS is now supported in PwnageTool 3.1.3 only if it was pwned at 3.0 or 3.0.1. The tool does not support the 3GS out of the box, meaning that if your iPhone 3GS has 3.1 preinstalled and is not pwned, there is no way to jailbreak at this moment. The same applies for the iPod touch 2G. The iPod touch 3G is currently not supported.
The PwnageTool is only available for Mac OS X, and they will not be developing a Windows version of the software.
I have only outlined the basics here. Please, please make sure to read the Dev-Team's entire post before going ahead with the process, especially those of you who rely on ultrasn0w to unlock your device. You don't want to make any irreparable mistakes.
Good luck and happy jailbreaking!
