Ngmoco Launches Eliminate And Touch Pets In Canadian App Store
October 31, 2009
Canadian iPhone and iPod touch gamers are in for a real treat today. ngmoco has launched two of their most highly anticipated titles in the Canadian App Store: Eliminate and Touch Pets: Dogs.
Eliminate has basically been billed as the ultimate first-person shooter for the iPhone ever since it was first announced many months ago. The game features tons of weapons, armor variations, maps, and Plus+ connectivity, but what has people really excited is the online multiplayer matchmaking system. Eliminate can be played anywhere at anytime against anyone on the planet via Wi-Fi OR 3G. The game is currently available for free in the Canadian App Store, and the reason for this is that ngmoco is treating its Canadian fans as beta testers. They want to ensure that the servers will hold up just as planned before releasing the game worldwide.
Touch Pets: Dogs is basically the ngmoco's answer to Nintendogs. In the game you will be tasked with caring for your puppy of choice by feeding it, cleaning it, and keeping it entertained. Touch Pets: Dogs will also feature tons of connectivity via Plus+ and Facebook, such as the ability to set up playdates, view puppies worldwide, and even care for a friend's puppy. Touch Pets: Dogs is also available for free exclusively in the Canadian App Store for server testing reasons.
Now, if you are wondering why both games are available for free, it's because ngmoco is employing in-app purchases. For example, in Eliminate you will be given a certain amount energy, energy which allows you to enter a game. You are initially given enough energy to play a handful of games, and once your energy is out, you will have to wait up to one day for your energy to be fully replenished. You will still be able to play the game without any energy, but you won't be able to earn credits. Credits are used to upgrade your character and weapons, so basically you will be playing for practice. If you want to play to earn more credits immediately, you will either have to pony up some cash or take part in marketing offers such as surveys to replenish your energy. If that doesn't make any sense, just watch the video embedded below.
ngmoco has given an exact time frame as to when Eliminate and Touch Pets: Dogs will be hitting other App Stores, but you can bet that as soon as they are sure the servers can handle it, the game will start appearing all over the world.
Now go have some fun you lucky Canadians!
