Review of Three Halloween Games - Just the Verdict! Plus Video
by Staff Writer

Halloween is tomorrow, and the App Store is decked out in Halloween themed games. Below are three reviews of Halloween games that stood out. Just the verdict is included for all three as well as my videos of the games in action. Check back tomorrow for three more Halloween game reviews in the same format.
Tons of games are released, and we can only do an in-depth review on so many. So we have come up with a new format we will use for a few games that go together from time to time. If you would like a full review of any of these three titles, please let me know in the comments. Please give any feedback on this format of reviews.
Scarecrow is a straight forward and simple game that is executed to perfection. All you have to do is tilt and tap to launch the scarecrow upwards, but its just so fun and addicting.
The 1.1 update provided two great enhancements putting this game over the top. Now instead of just black the scarecrow is in full color. Also there is now an invincibility kernel that really adds to the gameplay. Every time you go into the game you have a goal of getting just one more achievement, or better your last score because you know you just lost concentration in one part.
The game also comes with Plus+ providing the obvious high scores, but also tons of achievements, and you can push challenge friends. Scarecrow has some great sounds and visuals, and exemplifies the casual pick up and play game. Scarecrow is a should buy for $0.99. Also you have to pick it up today as it's part of Freebie Friday!
Horror Racing is about an average top down kart racer. It doesn’t provide much else, and it’s horror theme isn’t really applied well. The scariest aspect of the game is the controls. It’s quite difficult to turn a wheel in the bottom corner to drive your car, you actually have to think about it.
The game does provide great action whether your launching rockets at the other cars or avoiding them. All of the characters fit the Horror theme, but the course just comes up flat. It looks like a cemetery you’re driving around, but it's just too plain. It would be great to see ghosts flying around, zombies (or insert movie monster here) on the track.
The kart gameplay just doesn’t stand out, and the only reason its looked at is because of the Horror Theme, which is lackluster. You can avoid this Halloween themed game.
Zombie Pizza is wonderfully unique take on Zombies. We’ve done everything pretty much to Zombies, except for serving them pizza. The game is executed wonderfully from the visuals and sounds to the fun and engaging gameplay.
The game is just fun, and can be a nice distraction any time of day all year around. Just drag some brains, add some eyes, and you have a pizza that grosses you out, but at the same time brings a smile to your face.
I was fortunate enough to use a build of 1.2 which was submitted October 30th, and should be available in two weeks. Now there will be a survival mode which played great, and online high scores for that mode to add even more reason to play after completing the story mode.
Zombie Pizza is one of the best zombie games in the App Store, and is easily a should buy for $0.99.
