Halloween is here, and we gave you three themed reviews yesterday. Below are three more reviews of Halloween games that were worth covering. Just the verdict is included for all three as well as my videos of the games in action. So now that's six Halloween games for you to decide between, plus we have full reviews of Eyegore's Eye Blast, and Undead Attack! Pinball all ready on the site, see the links at the bottom.
Also at the bottom is my rankings of all Eight Halloween games I've reviewed in October to help you choose the cream of the crop.
Tons of games are released, and we can only do an in-depth review on so many. So we have come up with a new format we will use for a few games that go together from time to time. If you would like a full review of any of these three titles, please let me know in the comments. Please give any feedback on this format of reviews.
Monster Kill is one of the best Halloween themed games I’ve yet to play. It truly is the iPhone take on Castle defense. You get to use different finger gestures to dispose of the monsters. It’s feels great swiping the screen to cut them in half, or drawing a lightning bolt to electrocute, or drawing an arrow point for a fireball.
The game is just so much fun, and it will keep you coming back for more and more and more. Go against the mummy, dracula, wolf man, and frankenstein doing all sorts of things to them just with the swipe of your finger. Maybe the best aspect is that the monsters come towards you rather than moving side to side like in all the other castle defense games.
Open Feint is also included for your high scores as well as having tons of achievements. The game looks absolutely spectacular exemplified by the remarkable design of the monsters, blood squirting, and electrocuted bodies. The horror theme sound track is actually a joy to listen to as well. A weird omission is that you can’t see the health of your fence during the rounds, only after a level.
The one problem is that you only get four gestures to kill the monsters. It’s a top notch game for Halloween, and really one of the better games overall. It is a must buy for $1.99.
Mystery Mania is a great unique take on puzzle games. It’s a game about solving the riddle of each room in a haunted mansion, by tapping to interact with the objects in the room. As you progress you uncover quite a story.
F8 is the main character who is hilarious despite not saying one word. The game is really a head scratcher leaving you stumped at times, but you’ll want to come back, and figure out the puzzles. The sounds are nearly nonexistent, and the game is pretty average in terms of graphics.
The game has some load times leaving you unable to interact for a spell, which is bothersome. Also the game goes by relatively quickly with no reason to play it again. It’s a brand new puzzle that is worth $1.99.
Vempire is a halloween themed matching like object game that require matching four rather than three. The basic gameplay mechanic is exactly like Bejeweled Twist where you rotate four pieces at once to make matches. The gameboard is small, limiting the matches, and the game just doesn’t flow.
The game is boring, and lacks any uniqueness. There just was no fun to be had. The graphics are subpar, and there is a horribly annoying clink every time you rotate. The game has tons of levels, but I don’t think anyone would want to play them all.
You can earn token to buy assistants that are hard to use at best. The game isn’t worth a look for any price, and should be free, and even then I don’t know how long you would play it.
