Sneak Peek: Country Driver - Sheep on the Road, Holy Sheep!

October 29, 2009

Country Driver is a brand new driving sim where you only have one goal. You have to try to hit as many sheep as you can while keeping your damage down, and reaching the checkpoints. As you hit more sheep they will stick onto your windshield impeding your view of the road. You're driving on a forest road with many sheep crossing the road, and we don't know why. As you progress the road rises and falls so you can't see very far in front of you. Also construction cones and rocks will be on parts of the road you will need to avoid. Scoreloop is included for high scores, and the score is based on sheep hit and distance traveled. Gas cans are also on the road to pick up to keep your car going. The game is short, with not much depth, but is definitely a good time waster. The controls reminded me of Enviro-Bear, but easier. To control the car there is a gas and break peddle on the right side, and a steering wheel on the left. To control the steering wheel you just drag your finger on it. Also there is a horn to tap to stop the sheep in their tracks. Finally you can swipe the screen to activate the windshield wipers, and clear off some sheep. According to the developer Bartosz Smaga the game is intended to be totally casual like Doodle Jump or Parachute Panic. They are planning 4-5 updates, every 2-3 weeks. The first update is almost ready to go already that will add a dizzy/crazy bear, medical pack, and extra points for saved time. The game will be priced at $0.99, and the release is imminent. See my video of the game in action. We will have a detailed review once it enters the App Store. Also the developer is open to suggestions, so if you have any they will definitely take them into consideration.
