Sneak Peek: Spring Fling - New Doodle Jump Rival?

Spring Fling is a brand new game in the papi jump / doodle jump mould. Rather than jumping automatically though, it’s up to you to decide when the spring flings up in the air. You drag down anywhere on the screen to compress the spring, and let go to launch it upwards.
Five worlds are included to spring through. You can spring up a tree, bounce up a waterfall, go up a chalkboard, or even up sewer pipes. As you progress you can collect hats, glasses, and mustaches to customize your spring.
What makes it difficult is that you only have a certain spring power. It decreases as you use it, and if you run out, you can't spring higher. Luckily there are pit stops as you progress that recharge your spring power, but they become less frequent as you rsie.
Playing through the game I found it to be more engaging and fun than Doodle Jump. One of the best aspects is that the power-ups are placed often enough to actually be useful. Also it’s great to compress the spring, and aim its launch, rather than having a constantly jumping character.
As you reach higher areas that’s where the collectibles are located. It’s great to have a spring with a moustache, or a fez, or 3D glasses. Also you need to reach at least 200 on all four environments to unlock the pipe world.
Online high scores are provided using AGON, and there are achievements as well as facebook and twitter integration.
The game was submitted Sunday October 18th, and with a typical two week lead time it should be available late next week. It will launch for $0.99 the first week, and will be $1.99 after that. We will have a detailed review once it hits the App Store.
