Add Props To Your Photos In Real-Time With MagiCam, Another Augmented Reality App

November 5, 2009

The recent influx of augmented reality apps continues with MagiCam, an entertaining app that allows you to add a handful of odd and practical props to your photos in real-time. When you first launch MagiCam, there will be a giant shiny alien in the center of the screen, but don't worry, that can be changed.  An alien is just one of the 18 props that can be placed in your photos.  All of the props can be manipulated with relative ease, so you can stage the most convincing photo possible.  Simply tap and drag to move the prop, pinch and pull to scale, draw a circle with your finger to rotate, and move the slider located in the bottom left-hand corner to blend.  Once everything is in place and to your liking, simply snap the photo.  The final image will be placed in your camera roll for you to share with others. magicam_screenThe developers intend to add more functionality and props to MagiCam via updates, but below are the 18 props included in version 1:
  • Alien
  • Bearded Man
  • Bunny Ears
  • Croc
  • Devil Horns
  • Vampire Fangs
  • The fish that got away
  • Ghost (Glow/Light)
  • Ghost (Scary)
  • Garden gnome
  • Grim Reaper
  • Halo
  • Lion
  • Pumpkin Head
  • U.F.O
  • U.F.O 2
  • Witch
  • Zombie
As with all augmented reality apps, an iPhone 3GS is required to use MagiCam thanks to its built-in compass. MagiCam is now available in the App Store for $.99.
