It's Thanksgiving, and One Thing I'm Thankful for is iPhone Developers

It’s Thanksgiving, and a time to reflect on what we are thankful for. Many things in my life I’m thankful for, and one that fits perfectly with AppAdvice is iPhone Developers. This is an open Thank You letter to all iPhone developers.
Dear iPhone Developers,
We owe you a lot. Just for starters thinking of our site, and the ones like it, wouldn’t exist without your work. Then there is the usefulness and enjoyment your apps bring to millions of people across the globe.
Apple has definitely made a great piece of hardware, but hardware can only go so far, and can be copied relatively easy. The stock apps though don’t do much. What sets the iPhone apart from every other device is the App Store. There truly is an app for just about everything, and that is only made possible by the work you do.
Think of all of the different things the iPhone can do. I use it all day, and yet don’t make any calls. New apps are released every day that push the capabilities of the iPhone. Apple isn’t doing anything new, so this is all from independent developers who have thankfully chosen the iPhone to display their creative genius.
I review a lot of games, and it seems way more often than not the game gets a good score. It’s because there is just outstanding work being done by iPhone developers. Do I give an app a lower score just because there’s a similar app has the same score? I don’t believe so, if these apps are high quality, then they deserve high quality scores.
It’s true there are a bunch of throw away apps out of 100,000, but think of all of the outstanding apps in that huge pile we call the App Store. Think of how much you have spent on apps, and how many more apps you still want. Quality is raising daily from new apps to just updates of already wonderful apps.
Updates are another great thing to thank developers for. They could just sell the app at whatever price, and leave it alone. Thankfully some iPhone developers strive for more, and provide you with way more value than is reasonably expected.
The iPhone is the best portable device simply because of iPhone developers, and they deserve a huge thank you. We pay such minimal costs to enjoy such wonderful apps, and the developers keep giving and giving.
iPhone developers you bring the special to the mundane. You provide a spark to the everyday. You transport us away from the monotony. You give us what we want, what we never even thought of, and still so much more.
I for one would like to say thank you,
-Trevor Sheridan and the AppAdvice Team
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
