Overview

Crazy Turkey Blast is a Thanksgiving themed arcade shooter developed by ezone.com, the developers of Crazy Snowboard and Scarecrow. The goal of the game is simple, try to blast as many turkeys as you can in a given time. What sets it apart isn’t just a thanksgiving theme, but also there are tons and tons of unlockables. You can change the weapons you use, the turkeys you shoot at, the backgrounds, and so much more. This game has something for everyone. Turkey_prizes

Features

The unlockable prizes include weapons, turkeys, trees, backgrounds, clock, and sound. You begin with a rifle, and then can upgrade to laser, magic dust, jelly blaster, and even flamethrower with 14 in total. The turkeys include run of the mill, as well as turkeyosaurus, doodle turkey, cyber turkey, turkey zombie, and even christmas turkey. This game can work with Thanksgiving, Christmas, and even Halloween. It fills your desire to have doodle style, as well as zombies. The best part is you can mix and match all of the prizes to blast zombie turkeys with snowballs in doodle land or how ever you choose. You can also send any purchased prize to a friend to get into the spirit of giving. Online ranking is included for total coins earned, and you can e-mail or tweet about your turkey blasting. The Good

It's a solid arcade shooter with spot on controls for rotating 360, and tapping to fire. You spin frantically, and then stop the crosshairs on the turkey, and double tap to blast away. It's quite hectic trying to amp up your score so you can earn some money for new unlockables. Every hit on a turkey adds to your multiplier to really score some points. The game has a nice cartoonish style for all of the turkeys and backgrounds. It's great to see a dinosaur or zombie turkey. Also the animations are the best thing to see as they vary depending on the weapon you use. Adding to the time of the season, the turkeys have football helmets on. Nine soundtracks are included with one at start, and the rest unlockable. Each soundtrack fits with each theme, and are nice to listen to. Also each game begins with a hilarious and goofy "Here Turkey, Turkey, Turkey." Turkey_laser All of the unlockables allow you to look at the game you want. If you’re feeling a doodle game fire up the appropriate features. Maybe you want some zombie action, well go for it. With so many unlockables you'll want to play with a bunch of them, and it can give reason to keep playing. Also the gifting feature is something unprecedented for the iPhone, and works great. Crazy Turkey Blast is more than just a Thanksgiving game, and also can work for Christmas and Halloween. Turkey_magic

The Bad

Though you can change many of the aspects of the game, it never changes the gameplay. It would be great that if you killed rarer turkeys it would be worth more points. Or if you used different weapons you get bonus points. Also if you used the same theme consisting of weapon, turkey, background, and tree you could get bonus. Sadly none of these exist leaving you with the same basic gameplay every time. You just spin around 360 looking for turkeys, and double tap when a turkey is in the crosshairs. It gets repetitive pretty quickly, and the change of scenery doesn’t change that. Turkey_score Since unlocking new items is based on coins it would be better to earn coins quicker with more advanced weaponry or turkeys. It takes a long time to unlock the really good stuff. The online ranking system is relatively basic as it just says you’re coin earnings rank a certain number without being able to view an actual list. Even more disappointing compared to the Plus+ inclusion in Scarecrow.

The Verdict

Crazy Turkey Blast is one of the best holiday themed games I’ve played, but that’s not saying much. It's solid arcade shooter, but become repetitive pretty quickly. The game probably gives the most unlockables and customization of any in the App Store. Despite the customization, the gameplay is the same every time as none of the special weapons or turkeys change the points. Crazy Turkey Blast is worth considering for $0.99.
