Appvent Calendar ‘09 Day 18 Features Five Free Games
December 18, 2009
We’re on day 18 of Blacksmith Games’ Appvent Calendar ‘09 promotion and things are really starting to heat up. Today we have five free games available for download!
Today's primary free game is AlphaBattle. AlphaBattle will test your vocabulary, brain power, and reaction time as you attempt to create words as fast as possible by tapping the consonants and vowels that are scrolling from the top and bottom of the screen. If a column of letters meets each other in the middle, that column becomes unavailable. If you run out of columns, the game is over. AlphaBattle features four gameplay modes, three difficulty levels, three power-ups, stat tracker, and local and global leader boards.
AlphaBattle is normally available for $.99, but today it is available for free.
The second free game featured today is Uniwar. Uniwar is a turn-based strategy game that focuses on online play. In the game the goal is to build up your army and take down your opponents by utilizing the strengths of your units and the terrain. The game features three playable races with eight varied units, online and local multiplayer with over 50 maps that allow up to eight players, campaign mode, global leader boards, and loads more.
Uniwar is normally available for $2.99, but today it is available for free to celebrate the release of Xpressed's new game, The Inferno.
The third free game today is Trigger Happy Christmas. In Trigger Happy Christmas you play as Santa who is trying to save Christmas from the elves who have gone bad and started stealing all of the presents. You will be equipped a bunch of different powerful weapons in order to dismember the elves and return joy to the world. Twisted huh? The game is a side-scroller that also features Rudolph as a playable character, online connectivity via AGON Online, and even the ability to send e-cards to friends and family.
Trevor has a great review of Trigger Happy Christmas available for anyone in need of more information.
Trigger Happy Christmas is normally available for $.99, but today only it is available for free.
The fourth free game is Monster Ball. Monster Ball is a turn-based strategy game that is described as Chinese checkers on steroids. The game features two game modes, 10 different maps, special power-up tiles, trophies, and online multiplayer that is even compatible with the PC and Mac versions of the game.
Monster Ball is normally available for $.99, but it's now available for free.
Minim is the fifth and final free game today. In Minim you are tasked with combining like-numbered atoms in order to reduce the molecule until there are no atoms left. When you combine two like-numbered atoms, such as a (2) and a (2), the resulting single atom will be a (3) and so on. You must plan your combining well in order to reduce the molecule to a single atom. It sounds difficult, but the game does a good job of slowly progressing you through each situation.
Minim is normally available for $1.99, but today only it is available for free.
[Thanks to Greg for pointing out there were actually five free games and not three!]
