As you probably know, there was some collateral damage to the Google Voice app rejection, indeed, the third-party clients like Voice Central or GV mobile also got pulled. While we don't know what will happen with Google's official app, which is officially still "awaiting approval", Voice Central and GV mobile are not giving up. They are both coming back to your iPhone with new versions, new features, but each in a different way. When your app gets pulled or refused there are really only two ways to go around it (unless you mail Steve or Phil) ; either you release your app on a jailbreak repo or you turn it into a WebApp. Well, it's exactly what they each decided to do.

Voice Central

Voice Central for starters, decided to become a WebApp. It's called "Black Swan" and lets you do pretty much everything you would expect from a Google Voice client and apparently, despite of being a WebApp, it would still have the feel & look of a native application. It should hit us around next year. They even have a dramatic video preview:

It has some WebApp inherent downsides however, you'll have to upload your contacts to their server if you want to access them from the interface.

GV Mobile

Google Voice Mobile took a different path, the jailbreak. While releasing a jailbreak app strongly limits your market potential, the product you can develop is however much superior to even an "official" native application. GV Mobile is actually already available for free on Cydia. It's pretty much the same app that was pulled from the App Store and probably your the best way to access Voice at the moment, unless you want to play around Google's horrible web interface. Sean Covacs, its developer, rewrote the entire application and is now about to release the second generation of his app. It lets you use multiple account, features your entire contact list and many more. It will however cost you around $2 when it gets released. How will you be having your Google Voice?
